Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the macOS app LLMeter (hereinafter “app”). In short: the app evaluates your Claude usage only on your Mac. It sends neither your usage data nor any other personal data to us or to third parties. The only network connection the app makes itself is the check for updates. The details are explained below. Regarding terms such as “processing” or “controller”, we refer to the definitions in Art. 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Controller
Appnö GmbH
Erkrather Str. 401
40231 Düsseldorf, Germany
Managing Director: Klaus Rodewig

Local evaluation of your Claude usage
To show tokens, costs and plan limits, the app reads the session logs that Claude Code and older versions of the Claude desktop app store on your Mac (in ~/.claude/projects and in ~/Library/Application Support/Claude). These logs can contain the content of your conversations. The app only evaluates the usage figures, the model used, the time, the project folder and the size of messages and tool calls. It does not save, display or analyse the content of your conversations. All results are only kept in memory and are recalculated at the next start. The app requires no user account and no API key, and contains no analytics, tracking or advertising functions.
Settings stored on your Mac
The app stores your settings on your Mac: the selected Claude plan, the calibration values, an optional API budget, the reset times and the update options. These settings never leave your Mac. You can delete them by removing the app and the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.appnoe.llmeter.plist.
Checking for updates
The app uses the open-source framework Sparkle to check for new versions. By default it does this once a day, and also when you choose “Check for Updates…”. For this, the app loads the file appcast.xml from raw.githubusercontent.com, and downloads an update from github.com if you install one. In doing so, GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P Kelly Jr St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), a subsidiary of Microsoft, processes your IP address, the time of the request and the user agent, which contains the app version and the macOS version. We do not receive this data. Sparkle does not send a system profile. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing you with security and bug fixes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). GitHub may process data in the USA; GitHub is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Details can be found in GitHub’s privacy statement at docs.github.com. You can switch off automatic checks at any time in the app’s settings under “Updates”.
Download and Homebrew
The app is distributed as a disk image via GitHub and via Homebrew. When you download it, GitHub processes your access data (e.g. IP address, time of access) under its own responsibility. When you install it with Homebrew, the privacy policy of Homebrew also applies.
Links to websites
The app contains links, for example to the usage page on claude.ai and to our website. They only open in your browser when you click them. The privacy policy of the respective provider applies there, for claude.ai that of Anthropic.
Code signing
The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. When you open the app, macOS may check its signature with Apple. This check is carried out by macOS under Apple’s responsibility; please refer to Apple’s privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
This website
When you open this page, the web server processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, time of access). Details can be found in the privacy policy of our website.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). As the app does not send us any personal data about you, we generally hold no data to which these rights could relate. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
Changes to this policy
We will update this privacy policy if the functionality of the app changes. The current version is always available at this address.
